EMR Go-Live – a spotlight on Sunshine!

The EMR Phase 2.1 Go-Live has reached an exciting stage, with the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit at Sunshine Hospital transitioning to documenting patient care in the EMR today. 

This means that our ED’s and ICU’s across Sunshine, Footscray and Williamstown Hospitals are documenting in the same system, providing easier visibility of patient information for staff across the EMR sites. 

The sea of blue support is spread across Sunshine Hospital again today, helping our ED and ICU staff navigate the system in a live setting for the first time, as well as continuing to support all the areas that have gone live over the last few days across Sunshine – including Joan Kirner, Williamstown and Footscray Hospitals.  

The EMR Super User team continue to be a wonderful support for staff, assisting with queries on the spot or reaching out to the 24/7 EMR Command Centre for further advice. A big well done to the exceptional Super User team!

The EMR rollout will continue tomorrow, with the EMR Anaesthetics module going live at the Sunshine site, including at the Joan Kirner. The full schedule for next week’s, second big week of the EMR Phase 2.1 Go-Live is available on the Digital Health information site. 

EMR key messages for today: 

• Please don’t wait until the end of a shift to seek out an EMR Super User or contact the Service Desk. If we need a little time to resolve your query, we want to do so while you are still onsite 
• When admitting a patient, check if they already have a Western Health UR number 
• Always add alerts via the alerts folder – for further information please view the Quick Reference Guide – Alerts – Add Alert 
• Since Sunday staff have been able to see the new EMR Phase 2.1 functionality. In some instances, staff have seen an EMR view they were not expecting. If this occurs, please check with the area manager and if this is incorrect, follow the support processes in place –these can be viewed on the EMR Support page of the Digital Health information site
