EMR Updates
The Digital Health team has a continuous improvement mindset and we’re always interested in hearing from you about changes to the applications we manage to support you in your day-to-day duties. It’s all part of our focus on Best Care at Western Health.
Based on your feedback, here is a summary of the changes we’ve made to the EMR in 2024 and 2025:
We want to optimise the Medical Duty of Care Restraints EMR documentation to align with the WH PPG and 2022 MHA.
We have modified the Restraint (Non-MHA) Authorisation and Restraint (Non-MHA) Medical Review Powerforms. We have also modified the Restraints iView band.
We want to be able to differentiate between Adult and Paed results coming into the SH ED message centre pool for endorsement.
We created a ‘SH ED Paeds Pool’ (to manually forward paeds results to this pool for the time-being. To be automated in the future).
Also created ‘ED Refusal Inbox’ (to be utilised when result is not relevant to ED – patient is admitted to IP).
We want to create an order set for premedications, which will streamline prescribing, promote consistency, and enhance patient safety.
We created an orderset for the ordering of premedications for paediatrics.
We want to reduce messages coming from FirstNet to CBORD.
We decommissioned FirstNet interface to CBORD.
We want to make it easier for clinicians to navigate and add alerts from the alerts folders.
We removed unused alerts, removed the need for multiple clicks to open folders within folders, and renamed the folders to be more intuitive.
