EMR Updates

The Digital Health team has a continuous improvement mindset and we’re always interested in hearing from you about changes to the applications we manage to support you in your day-to-day duties.  It’s all part of our focus on Best Care at Western Health.

Based on your feedback, here is a summary of the changes we’ve made to the EMR in 2024:

We want a note type for the Autism Assessment Clinic – a multidisciplinary clinic. 

We did

We have provided a new note type, ‘Autism Assessment Clinic Outpatient Note’ to ensure the information from this clinic is easily identifiable.

Acute Pain Service Public Ward Round Auto Text

We want a public auto text for all users for the Acute Pain Service Public Ward Round, to ensure consistency and accuracy of documentation.

We did

We have provided a new public auto text labelled ‘.apmswardroundnote’.

Rename Immunisation Tab to Immunisation History

We want to rename the immunisation tab to ‘immunisation history’ as it’s a more accurate title that aligns to other hospitals, in preparation for the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) project.

We did

All users with this tab will now see the updated title ‘immunisation history’.

New Nursing Shift Note (Medical/Surgical)

Documenting a progress note each shift means duplicating what we have already documented today. 

We did

We created a new note ‘Nursing Shift Note (Med/Surg)’ which will automatically pull in selected data from iView that you have already documented in a shift. You will no longer need to repeat yourself in the progress note.
