Super Users

We are grateful for the 100+ staff at Bacchus Marsh and Melton who played a vital role as Super Users, in providing support in the lead up to and throughout the Go-Live period during November and December 2024.

BMM Digital Health Super Users have access to a dedicated SharePoint site and Teams channel.

They join more than 1,000 Super Users across Western Health that were instrumental in the EMR Phase 2.1 Go-Live in 2023 and continue to support colleagues.

Please reach out to the Digital Health team, [email protected] if you have any further queries.

Super Users receive additional training in the EMR and other relevant digital systems, so they can support their colleagues in using new workflows.

Super Users become embedded experts in and play a vital role in preparing for Go-Lives, supporting colleagues and helping with sustained adoption and optimisation efforts after Go-Live.

  • Work in a clinical or administrative role at Western Health (minimum 0.6 EFT, however this requirement can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis)
  • Have an interest in digital health and the safe use of technology to provide Best Care
  • Have confident computer skills, and be keen to support your colleagues as they become familiar with new workflows
  • Have good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Keen to learn more about digital health and change management

Super Users will be supervised and supported by the Digital Health Project Team to complete the following activities –

Before Go-Live:

  • Attend Super User training to learn how to support your colleagues through customising the EMR, tips, tricks and troubleshooting
  • Help get your colleagues ready for training by assisting with demonstrations and presentations, helping them select the appropriate training and identifying anyone that needs extra tuition and/or support
  • Help with Go-Live readiness activities in your department as required

During the Go-Live Period:

  • Be the go-to person for your team for EMR questions – there might be queries you’re unsure about, the Digital Health team will be easily contactable to support you
  • Help to disseminate key messages from the EMR command centre to your colleagues, and provide feedback and information to the Digital Health team on any local issues your colleagues are experiencing
  • Help your area manager identify and support any staff members who need extra help
  • If rostered to a supernumerary Super User, provide dedicated EMR support to your colleagues (you will not have a clinical or administrative workload)

After the Go-Live Period:

  • You will continue to provide active support to your colleagues to safely and effectively use the EMR
  • You will provide feedback, insights and ideas to the Digital Health team regarding wins and challenges in achieving change, adoption and use of the system
  • Be part of the largest Digital Health project ever implemented by Western Health!
  • Develop or expand your skills in digital health systems, change management, education and coaching
  • Build your personal profile and visibility in the organisation as an early adopter and change agent
  • Get a taste of what it’s like working on a digital health project – you never know where it may lead you!
  • Super Users will receive certification of the additional training they complete and can add this role to their CV

The majority of Super Users will perform their ‘Super’ duties in addition to their usual role. For these staff, clinical or operational duties should take priority over Super User duties unless directed by your manager.

Some Super Users may be rostered by their managers to Supernumerary Super User shifts during the Go-Live period – for these shifts, they will primarily focus on providing Super User support and will not have a clinical or operational workload.
