PulseNet Decommissioned as HealthLink takes off
Western Health has successfully transitioned to HealthLink as our provider for Secure Messaging Delivery (SMD) of clinical documentation. Since 15 October 2024, we have sent over 200,000 clinical documents to General Practices and clinicians via HealthLink. A full list of these documents is available on the Digital Health site.
This success reflects the work of the General Practice Integration Unit, Operations teams, Medical Records, Digital Health and many others. We also thank the General Practice community for their enthusiasm and support throughout this transition.
Decommissioning of PulseNet
PulseNet has been decommissioned due to unreliability and will no longer be used for clinical documentation. This change affects correspondence, such as mother/baby discharge summaries, endoscopy reports and cardiology investigations. These documents will be transferred to HealthLink in early 2025. Until then, they will be sent electronically via fax or File Share (email-based) by the Health Information team.
Once fully implemented, HealthLink will replace most traditional correspondence methods, ensuring all clinical documentation is sent electronically. Accurate NHSD and HealthLink data remains a priority for seamless communication.
To support this transition, the General Practice Integration Unit launched the Transition to HealthLink Improvement Project. Since mid-October, Support Officers have helped over 270 GPs and Practice Managers with HealthLink setup and provided guidance on transition-related challenges.
