New multi-route ordersets for paracetamol and metoclopramide
The EMR does not allow prescribers to document two alternative routes of administration for one order (e.g. oral/IV) therefore two separate orders are required.
However for the most commonly used multi-route medications, paracetamol and metoclopramide, multi-route ordersets are now available to allow for easier and safer prescribing.
Prescribers please CHECK THE MAR to ensure medications are ordered as intended.
Nursing and midwifery staff should always check LAST DOSE GIVEN and MAXIMUM COMBINED DAILY DOSE on the MAR prior to administration.
If other multi-route ordersets are required please submit a Change Request to the EMR team.
