Barbara Lennon

Deputy Chief Nursing & Midwifery Informatics Officer

Barbara has been involved with EMR for the last 25 years, first as an end user during her 10 years as a nurse in ICU in Belfast before moving into configuration and education when she emigrated to Australia in 2008. Barbara worked as a Clinical Application Specialist in ICU at St Vincent’s (Melbourne) prior to undertaking the Clinical Informatics Education Manager role at Austin Health.

Barbara joined Western Health in 2017 as EMR Learning & Development Manager to oversee the training plans for each EMR implementation and also EMR training and content for all new staff members. In 2020 and 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic, she responded to the organisational request for nurses in non-clinical positions to return to clinical roles, and returned to her roots as a clinical ICU nurse, supporting her colleagues in Footscray ICU.

In July 2023, Barbara moved to a new role within Digital Health as the Deputy Chief Nursing & Midwifery Informatics Officer (Acting), providing her expertise to planning the EMR Phase 2.1 optimisation as well as future Digital Health projects.

Outside work, Barbara enjoys travelling with her family, reading and trying new recipes which do not always work!
