A recent review of duplicates in the EMR Radiology order catalogue has seen 58% of the listed radiology orders removed, a significant enhancement to improve efficiency and reduce confusion.

For example searching “Hip Xray” previously offered 18 options to choose from, now the same search brings up just 6.

Prior to the clean up there were 2,642 orderable Radiology test names.  Post clean up there are now 1,100 orderable Radiology test names, despite actually adding more tests to the catalogue.

In addition common abbreviations such as “CXR” and “AXR” now also contain the full name of the test to reduce ambiguity and ensure the correct test is requested.
