We are excited to announce that the Western Health Choosing Wisely initiative has collaborated with the EMR team to produce the first Choosing Wisely clinical support aids within the EMR.

The first two aids, implemented on Monday 9th September 2019 are Wells Score Calculators for the following Medical Imaging orders:

• CTPA
• US Doppler Leg DVT

When requesting a CTPA or US Doppler Leg DVT the corresponding Wells Score Calculator Powerform will open and be a required field to complete by the requestor. The Wells Score will auto calculate and when the form is signed  it will be visible on the order and to Medical Imaging.

This new EMR addition aims to support clinicians in the use of the Wells Score thus supporting evidenced based, high quality and appropriate care.
