Patient Portal

Patient engagement and the patient’s ability to self-manage care will be significantly enhanced with the implementation of the Western Health Patient Portal, a key feature of EMR Phase 2.1

Through the portal, a patient will be able to view a range of health care details including their upcoming appointments.

The portal will ensure it is easier for patients to be more connected to important information about their care and treatment, and by empowering our patients with this information we can help to improve, promote and protect the health of our community.

My Health Record is an Australian Government initiative, which brings together an individual’s healthcare information from their registered healthcare providers such as doctors, specialists, hospital staff, Medicare and the Australian Immunisation Register.

Registered healthcare providers may be able to see an individual’s My Health Record when they need to, including in an accident or emergency.

Western Health is able to upload discharge summaries, pathology results and some imaging reports to their patients My Health Record accounts.

The Western Health Patient Portal will provide a patient with access to information regarding the healthcare they have received from Western Health only, not other healthcare providers.  Only the patient will have access to this information, and a proxy if the patient has nominated one.

When the Patient Portal rollout commences in 2023, English will be the only language available.  It is hoped that it will be possible to offer additional languages in future Patient Portal upgrades.
