The planned Go Live date for components of NWMH to transition to Western Health is 1 July 2023.
A date for the transition of community mental health services for consumers in the City of Maribyrnong, from Mercy Health to Western Health is still being confirmed. Western Health is working closely with the Department of Health and Mercy Health to confirm this date as soon as possible.
Western Health is also hoping to confirm further details regarding the transition of Emergency Mental Health (ECATT) and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Services at Footscray Hospital.
For services transferring from NorthWestern Mental Health, there will be minimal system changes but there may be new workflow changes for how you access these systems as a new Western Health employee.
Yes, training will be delivered using quick reference guides and facilitated through your facility’s transition champion. The training for staff transitioning from NWMH is planned for May 2023.
Transition champions include NWMH transitioning staff. These change champions will guide and train their colleagues on updated workflow processes and also support onsite staff during the transition.
Yes, there will be Transition Champion training, regular update meetings and updated workflow documentation. Introductory sessions will begin in the week commencing 1st May , with additional sessions to run towards the end of May and June.

FirstNet will replace EDIS from July 2023. If you currently access and use EDIS, please enrol into the EMR FirstNet training in WeLearn using the links below.

The full scope of inpatient mental health is scheduled to be included in EMR Phase 2.2.
EMR is not in scope for the Mental Health transition project and will be implemented with behavioural health in 2025/2026. Users that currently have EMR access will continue to have EMR access.
