Welcome to our final edition of our 3 part series of #EMRTopTips on Prescribing.

As this was a short mini-series, please send us some feedback. Thanks to the Medication Safety Committee, we will be able to give away 5 coffee vouchers each to the 3 best suggestions or ideas to further promote safe prescribing!

Get creative and get your submissions into EMRMedicalOfficers@wh.org.au by COB 20th of October.

This Week:

It is important when withholding a medication to indicate on the patient’s medication administration record (MAR). This is done by going to the order, right clicking and replacing the dose field with the text “WITHHOLD”. In this field it is also important to place a note of when to revisit and review this medication again. As an additional tip, you can also type into the order comments what the patient’s usual dose was so that when restarting the medication you will be able to recall the usual dose.
